With the Good, Comes the Bad - Journal Entry #1

Just like everything else, modern day communication technology has advanced in many ways. Despite the fact that this has made it easier for people to communicate with each other, which is a good thing, it also has a negative side to it.

The computer is probably the best and the most used modern-day invention that can be used to communicate with people, as much as it helps us get in touch with anyone, anywhere around the world it isn't always the safest way.
The computer allows us to email people, which is one form of communicating with a person. The bad side of emails are that, some tend to carry viruses that can harm your computer.
Another way of communicating is websites like: http://myspace.com, http://livejournal.com, http://vibe.to, these are 3 examples of sites where people go on and make pages that are seen by everyone, anywhere. These sites are usually just used to pass time or make new friends. Although, these are great ways communicate with people, the bad side of these sites are that you have loss of privacy since everyone is enabled to see your page. Photos that you may have on your page can easily be saved by someone else on their computer.

Chat rooms as well as Messengers such as; Msn Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, can be a way of communicating since you're basically having a conversation with someone online using a program. The downside of these tools are that you teenagers especially can meet strangers off the internet and there have been cases where a teen met up with someone she met off the chat rooms, and then resulted in the stranger doing something to her.

Wireless Internet allows us to surf the web wherever you are. It enables us more use for our computers, as much as it helps us do anything wherever we are. This causes us problems because then, the more we get to use our computer the more we get addicted in using them. If this becomes the case, then we loose interest in the other things we use to enjoy doing.

In conclusion, modern-day communication technology has evolved in many ways, and as much as it makes communicating with people much easier, we should be aware of all the negative sides that it has.
